Sally Foster

After taking a first degree at University College London, Sally Foster came to Scotland in 1985 to undertake research on the later Atlantic Iron Age under the supervision of Professor Leslie Alcock at Glasgow University. Since then she has worked for the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland as an Investigator and as an Inspector and Senior Inspector for Historic Scotland.

Her research interests lie predominantly in early medieval northern Britain and Ireland. She has written the best seller, Picts, Gaels and Scots, and edited a range of books, volumes and papers that cover a variety of themes including aspects of cultural resource management.
