Dr Cathy Swift

Dr Cathy Swift is the Director of Irish Studies at Mary Immaculate College, University of Limerick. She did her MPhil in Archaeology on medieval Islay at the University of Durham and continues to be fascinated by the links (real and imaginary) between Ireland and Scotland.  

With postgraduate qualifications in archaeology, medieval history (Oxford DPhil 2004) and Old Irish language and literature (Dublin 1993, 2000), her research uses inter-disclipinary methodologies to illuminate social and cultural realities of the medieval world.
